Teg Down Nature Group

Who are we?

We are an unincorporated community group. Our prime purpose is to mobilise local people and resources and promote a vibrant programme of small-scale activities that aim to help nature in the Teg Down area of Winchester. We value inclusivity, wellbeing and the protection of nature and wildlife in the Teg Down area.

OUR VISION:

to encourage more biodiversity and to value nature in our area

Our aims

Work together to make space for nature

Cooperating on sub-group projects with like-minded residents, for example; volunteers as 'green ambassadors' to share advice and information, having a local exchange to share seeds/plants, involving young people and others.

Help nature recover

Practical steps to encourage nature in our area, including verges, trees, ponds, wildlife corridors, 'messy space', log piles and more.

Keep informed about local nature

Share knowledge and skills with others in the community, to keep each other informed about nature. This includes: talks, walks and surveys on specific topics; having online/offline noticeboard space to share information etc.

Connect with Councils and other organisations

Understand policy, share practice with others, understand how to influence and change things to be more nature-friendly, have a voice in decisions etc.
